Preparation for the International Day of Peace – 21 September 2025

Dear National Messengers of Peace Coordinator,

Warm greetings from the Asia-Pacific Support Centre!

As you know, the International Day of Peace will be observed globally on 21 September 2025 under the theme “Act Now for a Peaceful World“. This day provides a powerful opportunity for Scouts worldwide to demonstrate our shared commitment to peace, non-violence, and harmony.

In line with Resolution 2024-10: Living Together in Peace and our Messengers of Peace initiatives, we encourage your National Scout Organization (NSO) to prepare meaningful activities that will engage young people in promoting peace within their communities.

To support your preparations, the Guideline for Creating Educational Spaces on International Day of Peace and the Youth-Led Peace page were shared on 27 August 2025 in the Scouts for SDGs Community of Practice on World Scouting’s Treehouse platform. These resources provide practical ideas and tools for NSOs. Suggested actions include:
• Organising educational workshops on peacebuilding skills such as dialogue, empathy, and conflict resolution.
• Launching youth-led community service initiatives that address local needs and foster unity.
• Facilitating dialogue and reflection spaces where Scouts and community members can share their experiences.
• Running social media campaigns using the hashtags #Scouts and #ActForPeace to amplify key messages: Together for Peace, End Violence, Build Peace, and Act for Peace!

In addition, World Scouting hosted the Webinar on a Peaceful and Inclusive World on 2 September 2025 for NSOs and adult leaders. We encourage you to review the recording and explore the presentations and other resources available [here], to stay updated on World Scouting’s approach to Peace Education.

We would be grateful if you could:

1) Share your NSO’s planned activities for the International Day of Peace, so we may feature them in our regional communication.
2) Document and share the outcomes of your activities with photos, short reports, or social media posts, tagging #Scouts and #ActForPeace.

Together, let us continue shaping a culture of peace and inspire young people to be advocates of unity and compassion in their communities.
Thank you for your leadership and commitment to the Messengers of Peace initiative. We look forward to celebrating this important day with you.

Yours in Scouting,

Jose Rizal C Pangilinan
Regional Director, Asia-Pacific Region
