Dear Friends at Nepal Scouts,
On behalf of Pathfinder Scouts Vietnam, I write with a heavy heart to extend our deepest condolences to Nepal Scouts, and to the entire nation of Nepal, in the wake of the devastating flash floods that have struck your country in recent days.
The news of the immense loss of life, the many families still searching for missing loved ones, and the destruction visited upon so many communities has moved us profoundly. We know that among those affected are surely members of our own Scouting family — young people, volunteers, and leaders who, like us, have dedicated themselves to the Scout Promise of service and brotherhood. Our thoughts are with every one of them, and with all the people of Nepal, in this time of unimaginable grief.
Please know that you do not carry this sorrow alone. The Scout Movement is, at its heart, one family spanning borders and oceans, and in moments like this, that bond of brotherhood and sisterhood matters more than ever. From Vietnam, we stand with you in spirit, in prayer, and in solidarity. We admire the courage and resilience the people of Nepal have shown time and again, and we have every confidence that the same spirit of “Be Prepared” that defines Scouting will help guide your communities through recovery and rebuilding in the days ahead.
If there is any way — however small — that Pathfinder Scouts Vietnam can stand alongside Nepal Scouts during this difficult period, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. Whether through words of encouragement, coordination with the wider Scouting family, or any other form of support, we are ready to help in whatever way we can.
Our prayers are with the victims and their families, with those still missing and their loved ones awaiting news, and with every Scout and Scouter working tirelessly to help their communities heal. May you find strength in one another, and may brighter days return soon to Nepal.
With heartfelt sympathy and unwavering solidarity.
Thank you,
Yours in Scouting,
